Sydney turned 3 on the 27th. We had her party at the park on Sunday. Thank goodness she was feeling better by then. It was gorgeous outside so even the twins were able to attend the party. My papaw was able to come as well. He enjoyed watching the kids play. Sydney chose Dora as her theme. I believe Halle had Dora at 3 as well. Most of her friends were able to attend and they really enjoyed playing. Each of them took a turn at the pinata, but we finally ended up pulling the string to get the candy to come out. FYI if you ever buy a pinata , you must furnish the candy. Wouldn't you think the candy would come in it?!? It was a little windy that day so we had a hard time lighting the candles. We finally got one to light so Sydney blew that one out. She enjoyed all her presents and thanked everyone for the gifts. On her actual birthday, we cooked fish at the house for a small family party. She is getting so big and is acting more and more like a big girl everyday.

Magic Screams
We had planned all week to take Halle and Sydney to Magic Screams, which is what they call Magic Springs during Halloween, on Saturday. After Sydney was sick on Friday, she did not feel like going to ride roller coasters and rides that spin around so we invited Halle's friend, Maddi, to go with us. Mom and Aunt Joy went along for the ride. The girls enjoyed themselves, and it was a beautiful day. They rode all the rides that they could ride and played some games too. Both of them won a basketball after making a shot. They really enjoyed feeding the catfish and turtles too. They filled their bellies with Dip N Dots ice cream, cotton candy, and funnel cakes as well as a little pizza. Magic Springs will close for the winter, but we look forward to going in the summer when the water park will be open too.
Jeffrey and Debbie had Sydney and Carlee and Kalee. They took them to Landen's soccer game. Someone asked Jeffrey if he got stuck babysitting.... He informed her that it was not babysitting when it was your own children!! Good husband of mine.... :)
Fun Fest 2008
The Fun Fest at the elementary was this past Friday. Our football team had the week off so it was the perfect week for it. Halle was chosen the queen of her class this year. John Patrick Cothren was chosen the king. Every year the school has the Fun Fest to raise money for the school. This year I believe a little over $8000 was raised. Each room sets up little games that cost a quarter to play, and each class choose kings and queens to represent the class. The kings and queens put together a table outside their classroom and people put money in the bucket of the class they like best. Mainly families contribute to the kings and queens. Every year a theme is chosen, and this year it was all about OUTLAWS. Mrs. Cothren, who is the principle at the high school, had some of her art students make the score board. It was the cutest thing. They had put alot of thought it to it. They put Halle and John Patrick's ages for the score and on the downs they put 2nd down 11 to go.
Halle and John Patrick placed 1st runner up raising just $17 short of winning. Halle said that it was the best night of her life!! I'm guessing she didn't care as long as she got a crown and trophy. :)
The twins enjoyed themselves that night. They were quite the hit and even got some campaigning in for Jessica Steele a friend of my brothers who is running for judge. Notice the signs on them in the picture. Poor Sydney had the stomach virus that day and missed out on all the fun. That is another story....
4 Months Already?!?
My how time flies when you are having fun!! It's hard to believe that the twins are already 4 months old. Debbie and I took them for their check up and Syd's flu mist on the 22nd. Dr. Busceme was very impressed with both Carlee and Kalle's progression. Carlee weighed 12lbs 4.5 ozs and was 23 inches. Kalee weighed 12 lbs 6.5 ozs and was 22 1/2 inches. We were shocked that Kalee passed Carlee in weight. Carlee has always weighed more. We did a few double takes to make sure we didn't have them mixed up. :) Dr. Busceme even listened to Kalee's heart twice to make sure she couldn't hear a murmur. Carlee is the one with the murmur but it is so small Dr. Busceme can never hear it. She just wanted to make extra sure we didn't have them confused. Debbie and I were pretty positive we had the right names with the right baby. It is getting difficult to tell some days and when you get use to one baby always weighing more, it does get you to second guessing yourself. Anyways, both girls were in the 25% for their weight and about 5% for their length. Dr. Busceme said that was awesome!
Carlee and Kalee are taking about 6 ozs of Prosobee formula every 4 hours during the day. They are sleeping from about 10:30 to 6:00 at night. They are wearing size 1 diapers. We are still using diapers from the shower. I haven't bought not one diaper yet, which is awesome! They are mainly wearing 0-3 months in clothes, but can wear some 3-6 months.
The girls got 3 vaccinations that day and another dose of the rotovirus vaccine which is oral. Sydney was so funny. She said, "this is going to be loud!" She covered her ears while the girls were screaming and yes, she was right, it was loud!! Sydney also got her flu mist that day. We should all be well protected from the flu this year. Now we start praying that it works!
Carlee and Kalee are both smiling more and more each day. They love to babble and coo at us as well. They are just going through such a cute stage. Kalee decided to roll over on Tuesday. She rolled from her belly to her back. Last night she rolled from her back to her belly. I told Carlee that she was behind and needed to catch up to her sister. :)

Fall at Gran's
Yesterday was Papa Rick's birthday. We spent the day at the river. The girls always enjoy themselves there. We roasted marshmellows and carved a pumpkin. It turned out pretty well considering we didn't have a stencil kit or pumpkin carvers. Halle and Sydney's true colors show in the picture with the pumpkin. It's funny how you can capture their personalities with a picture.
Crow/Greene Wedding
Halle was in another wedding on Saturday. This makes about her 6th wedding to be the flower girl. She is a pro at it now. Jeffrey's first cousin, Lindsay, married one of my distant cousins, Mason. It was a beautiful day and a pretty wedding at Jerry and Debbie's house. The twins got passed around to just about everyone at the wedding. They were great during the ceremony never making a sound. Syd and Landen had a good time too. Sydney would not be in the family photo. She pitched a good fit so don't waist your time looking for her. Two boys were in the wedding. The photographer tried to get them to kiss Halle on the cheek but that was not happening. One of the little boys barely stood by her for the picture. Jeffrey said that they better be glad they didn't kiss her. He has a long road ahead!!!
Our First District Loss
The girls had a good time at the pep rally on Friday. Several of Halle's friends have started going to the pep rallies. The picture of them doing the school song with their fingers raised is priceless. Halle and Kennedy think they are as big as the cheerleaders. The cheerleaders came in wearing some of the football players' jerseys, and they had to have one too. It came down to their knees. Unfortunately we lost to Mt. Ida. We have an open date this week then we will face Foreman for Homecoming and Mineral Springs before the playoffs begin.
Halle's 6 Year Old Well Check
Wednesday I took Halle for her 6 year old well child check. Her birthday was in August, and it is now October and I'm just now getting her to the appointment. I have been a little busy! She did not need any vaccinations so I was not too worried about getting her there. It did work out nicely because the flu vaccinations were there. Halle was very excited to learn that she didn't have to have a shot and could do the flu mist. Ms. Kay scared her when she said the flu shots were in the office. She started crying immediately. When Dr. Busceme came in she was crying. Dr. Busceme informed her she was going to be her best friend and told her about the flu mist. Halle dried her tears and was a much better patient. We are definately going to miss Dr. Busceme when she leaves in December to move back to her home town of Austin. This was probably the last time Halle will see her....very sad. I rewarded Halle with a trip to Chucky Cheese for being a good patient. Halle stats were weight 46 lbs and height 45 1/2 inches. Both of which were in the 50%. Dr. Busceme said she was proportioned well.
Now That's Tired
Last Sunday the girls played hard. Sydney did not get her normal nap. She finally went to sleep about 4. I woke her up about 5 so she could get in the shower and get ready for church that night. I got her up and in the shower but as soon as she got out, she hit the floor. Before I could even get her clothes on she fell asleep with a wet head and in her towel....now that's tired! Needless to say we didn't make it to church that night.
Cheetah Girls Concert
Mom and I took Halle and her friend, Kennedy to the Cheetah Girls concert last Saturday. Kennedy spent the night with us Friday night, and we left out early Saturday. I can only imagine when these two are teenagers how long it will take them to get ready. They fixed their hair and glittered up for the concert. It was hilarious to hear them talking on the way. They called themselves BFF Populars. I had to ask about the Populars, and they said that was because they were popular...too funny. We had a great time and as you can tell from the picture, Halle was tired on the way home.

Sydney Ear Check-Up
Sydney had to have tubes in her ears the first of the year. Wednesday we went for a check up to see how they were doing. I informed him that her right ear had drained a few weeks ago and then he looked into her ears. She was very good for this part and just set in my lap and colored. After he examined her, he informed me that her left tube was out and the right one was plugged which was probably due to the drainage. He said he really wanted to try to unplug the right one so at least one would be good for the winter months ahead. We had to go to another room to do this procedure which unfortunately we had been in before when she decided to stick something up her nose about 9 months ago. Oh boy did she remember this room.... she started crying and saying, "I don't want in that chair." It took 3 of us to hold her down which was an improvement because with the nose thing it took 6. She of course screamed the entire time and unfortunately for no good reason. He was unable to get the plug out because the tube started moving and he didn't want it to come out too. So now we pray she has out grown ear infections and doesn't get any this winter or we will have to replace the tubes. Both her uncles had to have tubes more than once and they were both older than her the last time they got them so I'm not very optimistic that we won't have to have them again. I rewarded her for being good because she was good for the first part and I would have probably cried too with someone sticking something in my ear. She picked out a Dora movie as her reward. She said something funny the other day when I was telling her daddy something bad she had done that day. She said, "I'm not going to worry with this." The words fit here as well. I'm not going to worry, it is what it is and if she has to have tubes, she will get tubes.
