Parties

Halle and Syd went to 2 birthday parties over the weekend. Both parties were really for Syd's friends but since they were both swimming parties, Halle was all too happy to go!
Kyndall turned 4 and she had her party at the DeQueen City Pool. Halle loved the high dive but it scared me to death. I would let her "dive" off it but she jumped plenty of times. Syd had a blast swimming with her friends. A few of Halle's friends were there as well.
Eli turned 4 as well. He had his party at his grandparents pool. Syd loved the slide. There is no telling how many times she went down it. She had a big time playing with her friends in the pool and the swing set.
Halle loved playing baseball with the "boys." They also had water gun fights that night as well. She can be such a girly girl at times and then turn around and play rough with the boys!

Life Of Syd

If you know Syd you know that she has a mind of her own!! Lately she has not been wanting to wear bows anymore. I can remember when Halle decided she was too big for bows as well, just about killed my mom! LOL Atleast we still have Carlee and Kalee wearing bows!! When they "out grow" them someone sure is going to hit the jack pot in bows!! :)
Syd is at such a cute age. She loves singing with the songs on the radio. She knows most of the words to Miley's new Hannah Montana 3 soundtrack, Ice Cream Freeze and He's Got Something Special being the favorites. She also likes Kellie Pickler's song, Best Days Of Your Life and Katy Perry's song, Waking Up in Vegas. She is also a big fan of any and all Taylor Swift songs that come on the radio. So funny hearing her sing along with Halle to these songs....
She is also at that age where she says that she is going to marry her daddy. Halle talks about boys and who her boyfriend is and lately Syd has been saying that her boyfriend is her daddy. :)
One of my friends dad was picking at Halle the other day. He asked her if she had an ugly ol' boyfriend. She looked at him and said, NO, he's CUTE! Leave it to Halle, no one is going to get one on her! :)
Syd is also learning to write her name. She does great with S Y D. We are starting small.... Back to the mind of her own, she does well when she wants to do well!

13 Months And Walking

So Carlee and Kalee have been walking for about 1 week and 1/2 and I'm just now blogging about it....My brother told me today that he was very disappointed that I hadn't blogged about it yet!
With 4 kids I'm lucky I'm getting to it now! :) I try my best to update often but sometimes I get a little busy.... wonder why?!
Kalee is walking a little better than Carlee. Kalee walks more than she crawls. Carlee is still doing about half and half. Kalee can get up from the floor herself to start walking but Carlee still needs to pull up on something before she takes off.
I'm so proud they are walking!!! When I want to move them from one room to another I don't have to get them one at a time. I just grap their little hands and we walk together or I carry one and hold the other one's hand. I can't explain how wonderful this is!! They look so cute just toddling around!!
Kalee is mad in this picture because she is wanting her pacifier. Yes, they still have one.... one more month and we are going to TRY to say bye bye to the pacifier!

Halle The Tumbler

Halle has been working hard all summer to master her standing back hand spring. Today at gymnastics she was so close to doing one without a spot. Miss Leah, her coach, told her to work hard all week and she MIGHT be able to do one next week. Tonight when I got home from work I found her on the trampoline. She has definately mastered her back hand spring on the trampoline. Now if she can just get it down on the ground...... She really wants to accomplish this prior to football season! She is getting all geared up for the upcoming season because she and Syd went the other day to get measured for their new suits. She is so proud of herself for doing one on the trampoline so hopefully she will have the confidence to do one at practice next week!!!

Syd's 1st Hygiene Appointment

Yesterday Syd went to the dentist for the very first time. She wanted her favorite hygienist to clean her teeth. ;) She even took time to take a picture with her.....
I was amazed at how well she did. She only asked a few million questions during the appointment. However, she opened wide when asked and loved the polish. She couldn't wait to call everyone to tell them about her getting her teeth cleaned. Everyone was proud of her! Of course we made a trip to Wal-Mart afterwards for her reward for being so good! She got a good report with no cavities! Her hygienist told her that she and her mommy and daddy were doing a great job cleaning her teeth! :)

4th Of July Fun

We had a very busy and fun 4th of July this year. First we celebrated with the Glasgow family at the family reunion. Several family members were in from Indiana. Halle and Syd love playing with their cousins from Indiana because they are close in age to them. A nice breeze was blowing but it was still hot! Carlee and Kalee were tired and enjoyed their afternoon nap under a shade tree. They were passed around all day. Halle and Syd love watermelon and enjoyed eating it and getting the juice all over them. I haven't been brave enough to let the twins try any yet. Soon they will get to try some.
That evening we went to Breanna's 8th birthday party. Thankfully both gatherings were in Newhope so it was easy for us to attend both. Halle and Syd enjoyed the party bouncing in the bounce house and swimming in the pool. Several of their friends were there so they had a big time. Newhope has a great fireworks show and we were able to watch them from the backyard. This was Carlee and Kalee's first time seeing fireworks since they were still in the hospital last year. Kalee loved them and watched bright eyed the entire time. Carlee slept through the first half but woke up after a loud boom from one. She didn't seem to mind the noise either. Syd on the other hand hates the noise! Her ears are sensitive ever since she had tubes put in her ears. She liked watching them but did so with her ears covered the entire time. Halle loved them and screamed with the other girls after each one. She kept saying how pretty they were.
What a great 4th we had the year surrounded by friends and family!

Vote!!

Go to carmentedder.com and vote for Carlee and Kalee. They are in her monthly contest. If you don't want to vote, atleast go check out how cute their picture is! :)

1 Year Check-Ups and Carlee's ECHO

Brandon and I took Carlee and Kalee for their 1 year well-baby check-up.
Carlee weighed 21lbs 15 ozs and was 27 3/4 inches. Kalee weighed 22lbs 6 ozs and was 27 3/4 inches. Carlee was in the 50% for weight and 10% for length. Kalee was in the 75% for weight and 10% for length. They continue to be close in weight but once again Kalee is a little bigger. Dr. Greene said that they were growing at a good rate and was pleased with their growth. They each got 4 shots and their blood taken at this appointment. It was a very long day! Poor things you can see in one picture where Kalee was looking at what was coming and yes, she started crying! I made Brandon hold them down when they got their blood taken. He did so well with the first one I told him he could hold the other one down too.
Both girls:
Wear size 3 diapers, Wear size 2 shoe, Wear size 9-12 month clothes
Pulling up and cruising around furniture
Drinking whole milk from their sippy cups
Eating some table foods.... they love potatoes and cheetos
Still taking a pacifier.... I'm a little concerned they are going to be hard to break from this. Halle and Syd were off their pacifiers at 14 months so we will see how well I do at breaking them!
Say a few words, momma, dada, and I swear they say bite
Know the meaning of the word NO.... Both cry when you tell them NO.
Have 4 teeth a piece
Love to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse but will also watch Hannah Montana and Jonas with Halle and Syd
Love being outside and swimming
Still fight over toys but Carlee is beginning to fight back
Love their "jumps" still.... when I get tired of chasing them I put them in their "jumps"
It's hard to believe that a year has passed so quickly! This time last year I was seriously about to go crazy because they were still in the hospital. They came home July 12th. We have been blessed that they are so healthy and hitting their milestones.
Jeffrey and I took Carlee for her yearly cardiology appointment. She had yet another ECHO. This time it was not quite so easy. She is obviously more active and didn't want to be still for very long periods of time. The lady was very patient and after about 45 minutes we were able to get all the pictures she needed. After the ECHO at Baptist we headed over to Dr. Sotomora's office on University. He reviewed her ECHO. He informed us that her VSD aka her heart murmur had closed up. However he detected a new hole in her heart called a PFO. The VSD hole was between her ventricles, the bottom 2 chamber of the heart, and the PFO is between her atriums, the top 2 chambers of her heart. He said he was not concerned and that her heart was functioning well. He recommended we return in one year to perform another ECHO. He thinks that it should close up as well. He said that 80% of the time these holes close on their own as did the VSD.
We feel fortunate that her appointment went as well as it did and that her VSD closed up. Please pray with us that her PFO closes as well.

Camping At Parker Creek '09

The girls enjoyed camping at Parker Creek. We missed camping last year because we were a little busy with the twins.... LOL
We all ended up getting strep the week we camped but we managed to fit in a little fun in between all the sickness.
Halle and Syd love jumping off the barge. Halle jumps from the top but Syd hasn't gotten brave enough for this yet. While I was sick one day, Jeffrey took them out and he decided it was a good idea to let Halle jump without her lifejacket. The next day she had to show me that she could do it... It about gave me a heart attack! Since everyone has given him such grief about it that he doesn't let her do it anymore!!
Syd likes to drive the barge and honk the horn at everyone. She also loves to ride her bike. Uncle Brandon was up one evening and he rode Halle's bike with her. She thought that was funny. I warned him that the pic was going on the blog too.... :)
The baby girls loved the barge. It is perfect for them because they can crawl around and play. They loved the water and swimming as well. They did so well all week but they went home with Nana and Papaw when they got back from their vacation for the last couple of days of our camping trip. It was so hot and they didn't enjoy it quite as much as Halle and Syd. They were much happier at home with Nana!
Parker Creek is close to my mom's cabin so we were able to take showers at her house. I enjoy camping but I'm not in to community showers! LOL She also kept up with our washing while we were there. When I got home , I had no dirty laundry!!
We are already planning another camping trip this weekend at Jefferson Ridge. Most of you know that this is close to my house so I'll be showering at home! :) The only down side is that I will have to do my own laundry.... :)
